Monsoon-Proof Brick Supply for Dhaka Ahsania Mission Housing
Overview
Dhaka Ahsania Mission required a steady supply of high-quality clay bricks for a cluster of residential blocks serving low-income families. The work schedule ran straight through the monsoon, so any disruption in brick delivery would push back handover and increase cost.
Phoenix Ceramic & Auto Bricks Ltd. was engaged as the core brick supplier because of our environment-friendly tunnel kiln technology, long continuous drying station, and ability to deliver consistent volume whether it is raining or not.
Challenge
- Construction timetable overlapped with peak monsoon months.
- Site could not stockpile too many bricks due to limited storage and access roads.
- Client needed uniform, high-strength bricks suitable for load-bearing walls.
- Strict compliance required with PWD, LGED and BSTI standards for brick quality.
Solution
Our production plan was built around our long tunnel dryer and fully controlled firing process, which keeps output stable even under heavy rain.
- All-weather drying: Our extended drying tunnel keeps green bricks protected from ambient humidity, allowing us to maintain target moisture levels and reduce breakage, even in continuous rain.
- Staggered delivery plan: Bricks were delivered in smaller, regular lots aligned to the week-by-week work schedule to avoid congestion on site.
- High strength specification: Supplied bricks in the 9.5" × 4.5" × 2.75" (240 × 115 × 70 mm) range with compressive strength typically in the 4,500–6,000 PSI band, suitable for structural applications.
- Compliance and testing: Batch-wise sampling was done to ensure conformity with PWD, LGED and BSTI requirements before dispatch.
Outcome
The site team received a predictable stream of bricks throughout the monsoon season without stoppages due to weather. Controlled drying and firing in our tunnel kiln significantly reduced warpage and breakage, cutting wastage on site and helping the project stay on schedule.
